SKIN CARE TREATMENTS
Standard Facial Types
Deep Cleansing Facial
Spas and salons generally offer some variation of a deep cleansing facial, an excellent treatment for any skin type. They usually include professional skin analysis, extraction of blackheads and other impurities, and application of products that clarify the skin and increase circulation.
Enzyme Peel Facial
This is a non-surgical anti-aging facial that gently peels away the very top dead layers of the skin to reveal a "newer" and smoother complexion. Deep exfoliating action cleans out pores and minimizes their appearance. This type of facial is often used to correct acne, hyperpigmentation and sun damage.
Nourishing Facial using various products, including Vitamin C, Vitamin A, Collagen, etc.
These facials are used to relieve dry, dehydrated and prematurely aging skin. Ideal for those who need extra hydration.
This facial provides complete hydration and protection from moisture loss. Masks are often used, sometimes under infra-red lamps to deepen the benefits of the products. Hydrating products are used as a finishing treatment.
Acne treatment
Anti-bacterial agents are usually used in a facial for acne treatment, to speed healing of active blemishes and hinder the development of new outbreaks. New developments using LED light treatments are proving very effective for sufferes of acute acne. More information on photo-facial treatment for acne is below.
Glycolic Clinical Peel
This clinical peel is gentle to the ski for more sensitive individuals, and provides the same benefits as more agressive peels with less irritation to delicate skin. Glycolic acid sloughs off dead skin cells, removes dullness, lightens sun spots, evens out skin tone and brings fresh, new plumped cells to the surface. Its benefits also include reduction of fine lines, enlarged pores and hyperpigmentation.
Microdermabrasion
This non-invasive and non-surgical treatment uses micro-crystals delivered in air at high velocity and immediately "vacuumed" off, along with dead skin cells to reduce surface lines, wrinkles, mild acne, blotches, large pores, pigmentation, variations and small scars. The immediate results of this treatment can be remarkable.
Newer Technologies
Turning back the clock has never been kinder, with the amazing advances in non-invasive anti-aging technology that are available to us now. Some of the most popular treatments are listed below:
The PhotoFacial
Begun initially as research into accelerating plant growth, and then applied to the healing of human bodily tissues, research done by NASA scientists led the way to the now-more universal use of LED (Light Emitting Diodes) photo-therapy facial equipment to stimulate and rejuvenate skin cells. “LED reacts with cytochromes in the body," says NASA’s Dr. Harry T. Whelan. "Cytochromes are the parts of cells that respond to light and color. When cytochromes are activated, their energy levels go up, and that stimulates tissue growth and regeneration.”
When the skin is exposed to LED photofacial equipment, different colors of light have different wavelengths, and therefore treat different conditions at varying depths of the epidermis. The colored light, and the depth it affects, is measured in nanometers (nm).
– Increases collagen production fivefold, triggering the skin’s repair functions and stimulating fibroblast cells and cell growth.
– Improves the appearance of acne-prone skin through its purifying and anti-bacterial properties.
– Reduces the production of melanin and hyperpigmentation; eliminates redness caused by the use of chemical exfoliants and whitening products.
– Used for its healing, purifying and detoxifying properties. Yellow light is absorbed by the blood and lymph systems – it activates wound healing, and promotes the elimination of waste by the lymph drainage system. Also boosts cellular activity.

Microcurrent Facials
A microcurrent facelift utilizes gentle electrical stimulation to trigger the body’s natural skin enhancement chemicals at a cellular level. It also stimulates, through the body’s own bioelectric currents, (the theory used in Chinese acupuncture) facial muscles back to a more firm, youthful tone and position. The treatment is conducted by applying two “lifting” electrodes to specific points in the musculature of the face. This treatment activates and “re-educates” muscle tissue to assume its original, natural position, before the natural aging process and gravity took their toll.

Microdermabrasion
Microdermabrasion is a non-invasive procedure that revitalizes dull skin, reduces large pores, erases fine lines and wrinkles, acne scars, reduces mild pigment irregularities (hyperpigmentation), stretch marks and age spots. Treatments with microdermabrasion systems remove up to 30% of the stratum corneum or epidermis, the outermost layer of the skin, and literally “vacuum” away dead skin cells and other impurities by an air vacuum and abrasion system using finely ground aluminum oxide crystals. The fresher skin that is revealed after treatments shows reduced fine lines, reduced pore size, a lightening of hyperpigmentation and age spots, and a lighter, brighter skin tone.

We carry a full line of advanced microdermabrasion systems, LED light wavelength photofacial treatment systems, microcurrent facial equipment, cellulite reduction endermologie systems and facial steamers as well as everything you need to offer the very latest innovative skin care treatments.

Standard Body Skin Treatment Types
Full body skin treatments include salt or sugar scrubs, detoxifying algae masques, herbal paraffin treatments, mud masks and herbal wraps. Many spas create “signature” body treatments using their own blend of herbs, aromatherapy and other rather exotic ingredients to make up their menu of offerings. Some of them sound good enough to eat! But all have the common goal of exfoliating and purifying the skin.
Full Body Exfoliation
Spas perform this treatment to rid the body skin of dead cells and toxins, smooth the skin, and prepare it for moisturizing treatments that follow. A salt or sugar scrub or other gently abrasive product is generally used, and many spas concoct their own signature scents as part of a special treatment menu that is unique to their spa. Once the body is rinsed or wiped clean of the exfoliant, finishing lotion or oil may be applied to further moisturize and nourish the skin.
Body Muds and Masques
This is literally a "facial" for your body. Masques of differing benefits for different skin conditions are available. The client is offered her selection of scent or specific benefit, and the technician applies the masque treatment product to the body. Steam tables are sometimes used to heighten the effect of the masque product. When the masque has had its time to work, a final warm rinse under the shower finishes the treatment.
Paraffin Body Treatments
Warm, oil-enriched and scented paraffin is brushed on the body in gentle strokes. The oils soak into the body as the client relaxes wrapped in warm towels. This treatment rejuvenates skin, leaving it soft and hydrated and relaxes the body by soothing tired muscles.
Parafango Body Treatments
Similar to the paraffin treatment, but the product used is a special paraffin enhanced with fango mud, for deeper moisturizing, increased detoxifying effects, and even softer skin.
Herbal Wraps
Meant to detoxify, smooth and nourish the skin and increse circulation, body wraps are a very popular treatment where the client is wrapped in fleece or cotton strips treated with herbal infusions. A heated blanket may also be used during the treatment, and other amenities such as tea or cool drinks are usually offered. A final rinse in the shower leaves the client ready for any finishing treatments on the menu.
