Hydrotherapy Spa Tubs: This classic single-user water treatment remains popular with new enhanced systems for air and water jets, powerful underwater massage, and self-cleaning systems for flushing and disinfecting internal piping.

Pipeless Hydrotherapy Tubs and Pedicure Chairs: new approach that is gaining in popularity is to use "pipeless" technology to allow complete disinfection and thorough cleaning of easily-removable and replaceable jets. The jets are removed by unscrewing them from the body of the tub. They are then cleaned and disinfected by hand in a sinkful of water and disinfectant detergent, or they can be thoroughly disinfected in a common dishwasher. If washed by hand, the whole process takes 5 minutes, and the jets are ready to be replaced for the next treatment. A second set of jets may be purchased separately and put in place immediately while the just-used set is in the dishwasher, resulting in zero downtime. This protocol must be followed diligently, however, for true disinfection to be achieved.

Spa tubs incorporating chromatherapy: These spa tubs have computer-controlled LED lights of different colors built in below the water level that color the water when the tub is full, and can be programmed to deliver therapeutic psychological and physiological benefits through color (“chroma”) therapy.

Spa tubs incorporating sound: Stereo speakers are built into or under the tub to enable the vibrations of the music to travel through the water – the client actually feels the music while receiving their hydrotherapy treatment.

Vichy Shower: This water therapy spa shower uses a horizontal shower system with the client lying down, frequently incorporating a hand wand operated by the therapist. The Vichy Shower supports a wide variety of body treatments - the warm water cascading over the client can be used before, during or after the application of treatment products, both as part of the treatment, and to rinse off the products when the treatment is finished.

Thermal Capsule: A recent enhancement to water therapy is this combination unit, which provides privacy for the client as well as containing the water and mud or other treatment products inside the capsule. Incorporates some combination of Wet Table, Vichy Shower, Steam, and Aromatherapy.

Swiss Shower: Client stands inside a circular or triangular shower utilizing many shower nozzles from 3 or more directions. This is usually offered as an amenity rather than a billable treatment, unless it is included in a series of wet treatments. As an amenity, it provides a much more luxurious and enjoyable way of rinsing off body treatment products when a vichy shower is not available.

Scotch Hose: Water projected through a jet hose stimulates the client from 10-12 feet away. Therapists are expertly trained to massage the client in specific patterns.
