WAXING TREATMENTS

Waxing is a more effective and longer-lasting method of removing unwanted hair than shaving, plucking or the use of chemical depilitories. Often, because wax removal is abrupt and can sting, pre-treatments that have a mild numbing effect are applied to the area to be waxed, and cooling sprays or lotions are applied after the wax is removed, to ease the sting and make the client more comfortable.

Facial waxing is a common service in salons and spas. Warm wax is applied to the upper lip or eyebrow area. Paper strips are then applied to the still-warm wax, and pulled off when the wax has cooled enough around the hair to pull it from the folicles. Waxing here and on every part of the body thins and slows the regrowth of hair and leaves the skin smooth and hair-free for far longer than shaving or delipitories.

Bikini waxing is a spa and salon staple, but just how much of this area is waxed is a matter of taste. Traditional bikini waxes remove the extra hair at the edges of the bikini area only. In recent years, the Brazilian version of the bikini wax has gained in popularity, whereby all the hair is removed from the entire pubic area.

Leg waxing is another necessity of summer, done in the same manner as the examples above.

Back and chest waxing is a service provided to men by some salons and spas, to remove excess or unwanted hair from these areas, using the same techniques described above.
